Southern Comfort

This classic Southern comfort food now appears on foodservice menus across the United States. Our Southern comfort recipe adds the richness of poached eggs.


Serving Size: 1 sandwich

Yield: 1 serving


  • 1 3-oz country style breaded chicken cutlet
  • 2 3-inch round or square frozen waffles
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 Davidson's Safest Choice® pasteurized shell egg(s)
  • 1 Tbsp bacon bits


  1. Deep fry chicken cutlet until golden brown.
  2. Toast waffles and place cooked chicken cutlet on top of 1 waffle. Drizzle syrup over cutlet, and then place 1 waffle on top of chicken.
  3. Poach egg and place on top of waffle. Sprinkle bacon bits over egg and waffle.


For bourbon maple syrup, dissolve 1 tablespoon brown sugar into 1/3 cup melted butter, add 1/3 cup Southern Comfort, ignite and let simmer for 1 minute, add 1 1/2 cup maple syrup and let simmer for another minute.


Use only 1 waffle if desired, or substitute Belgian waffles.
